ackground and Challenge odeling the acoustic properties of a virtual nvironment is an important step in imulating the acoustic response of building uch as auditorium. It is also gaining mportance for interactive applications such s games or virtual environments, where patialized sound adds a stronger immersion ffect. In practice, realistic sound can only e achieved by simulation of the sound aves from the source sources to the istener. The result is spatial sound that adds irectly to the immersion of the application y giving an intuitive impression of the nvironment. Our frustum representation (right) is a discrete approximation of a complex beam shape (left).
